All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2020

AIBE is a national level exam which is organised by the Bar Council of India (BCI)and has been designed with fulfilling the objective to assess the capability of advocates who have a strong desire to practice law profession in India.

The AIBE will evaluate skills at a basic level and is intended to set a minimum benchmark for admissions to the practice of law.

After passing the examination, the candidate will be awarded ‘Certificate of Practice (CoP)’ by the BCI, and they become eligible to practice the profession of law in India.

The AIBE exam will be an open book exam where candidates can bring their books and study materials, and the exam will be conducted indifferent cities.

AIBE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for the AIBE 2020 has been set by the BCI. If the BCI finds that any applicant is not eligible, then their application will be rejected right away.

Therefore, candidatesmust check the AIBE 2020 eligibility criteria before filling their application form.

The eligibility criteria that candidates must keep in mind before applying for the AIBE 2020 exam are
  • Only Indian national candidates are eligible.
  • The aspiring candidates must have completed their three-year or five-yearLLB degree program from any recognised university
  • Candidates must be enrolled with any State Bar Council (under Section 24 of the Advocates Act 1961).
  • He/she should have an advocate ID Card/enrollment card issued by the State Bar Council.
Some of the other essential points to remember are
  • There is no age limit prescribed to appear for the exam.
  • There is no limit to the number of attempts.
  • There are no minimum marks prescribed in the qualifying exam

AIBE 2020 Exam Application Form

No candidates will be permitted to apply for the AIBE 2020 if they have not filled the registration form and submitted in the official website of the BCI.

Along with that, they must provide all the details and pay the fees
  • Candidates can fill the application form from the last week of September 2020.
  • The application form will be filled through online mode.The link to fill the application form for AIBE 2020 will be provided on the official website
  • Candidates are advised to fill all the details correctly such as name, father’s/ husband’s name, gender, address, date of birth, and so on in the application form including proper academic details.
  • Candidates will have to upload self-attested passport size photograph and signature at the time of registration.
  • Candidates must also upload self-attested documents (scanned copies of disability certificate (if applicable), enrolment certificate and category certificate (if applicable) along with the application form.
  • There is no requirement to send the hard copy of the application or other documents to the Bar Council of India.
After submitting the form, candidates will receive a registration number and password on the email id that they had given at the time of registration.

Using this registration number and password, they can login to print the challan for payment of application fee.

The bank will return the applicant’s/candidate’s challan copy after payments of the fee.

This copy must be scanned and uploaded along with the application form within 24 hours of making payment to the bank.

After completing this procedure, candidates must take a printout of the application form for further use.

AIBE 2020 Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Exam: Offline open textbook
  • Duration of the Exam: 3 hours and 30 minutes. Candidates having any disability will be given 20 minutes of extra time to complete the paper.
  • Total Marks and No of Questions: 100 marks and100 questions
  • Type of Questions: All will be multiple-choice questions
  • Marking Scheme: One mark will be given for each right answer; however no negative marking
  • Question paper language: The question paper will be available in 11 different languages.

AIBE 2020 Exam Admit Card

Candidates who have successfully submitted their application form can download their AIBE 2020 exam admit card from the BCI website.

To download the admit card, candidates must enter their registration id and DOB.Candidates must take a printout of the admit card and it is mandatory to take the admit card (together with any photo identity card) in the exam hall on the exam day.

AIBE 2020 Answer Key

The exam conducting authority will release a provisional AIBE 2020 answer key to the candidates in online mode.

Candidates can check their answer key and calculate their marks obtained in the examination.

If candidates have any objection in the answer key, they can register their complaints within 10 days of the releasing of answer key.

After considering the objections, the authority will release the final answer key in the last week of December 2020.

AIBE 2020 Exam Result

The result will be announced on the BCI website and candidates will be able to check the result by entering their DOB and roll number.

Those candidates who qualify in the exam will be eligible to get the CoP by the BCI
